Gender and Neurodivergence

The links between neurodivergence and gender diversity, and how best to support our neurodivergent and gender diverse/divergent Young People are beginning to be explored.
Many young (and older!) individuals I know are finding themselves less comfortable with binary pronouns and masculine or feminine 'labels'. Such as man, mister, woman, mrs, miss etc...

No Specific Pronouns Apply is a great article articulating someone's experience of not feeling aligned with gendered pronouns, and also the lack of 'official' space available in society.

Our Neurodivergent Beans, can tend toward being system breakers/changers. Through struggles fitting into a system and/or rejection of a system on conscientious grounds.

Our binary sex and gender frameworks fit neither biological truth of our, and many other species, nor subjective experience of everyone being called to tick one of two boxes on application forms for example.

It was interesting to me to find then, that societies that do use gendered language also tend to be the least equitable, so another reason for us to deeply consider how we use binary gendered language.
In a world of dominance of one of two genders in language, those not identifying with either are not even at the table. <3
