My ADHD brain is a juggernaut.

🧠💗 I love and respect the f*ck out of it.
You will read and hear so many thoughts about ADHD brains and minds during ADHD month; I most love those that come from a respect and strengths based perspective - whether we experience ourselves as disabled in our societies, or not.

One of the popular comparisons is that for ADHD boys their brain is like a ferrari with bicycle brakes, and that for girls it is like a butterfly flitting about (I love a LOT of Ned Hallowell's work - being compared to a butterfly was not one of those moments 😂).

One of my Beloveds once said to me 'you are not slow, you are gradual, there's a difference'. And that is part of having a juggernaut brain.

It is powerful.

It will take you (and me) far, and often take us there damn fast - and it will drive on through the night while others sleep.

It can carry inordinate amounts with ease.

It can hold me solidly on a path, whilst giving me a great deal of perspective that many others do not notice.

True, it can be a f*cker to turn from one path to another - that comes as part of its strength and its weight.

It can't take just any and every road - the environment may not have the capacity to support its easy movement, progression, or even its presence.

And refueling it can take longer than refueling someone's nippy about town Mini Maestro.

But it can take a long haul for days, through inhospitable territory, and not a lot can slow it down once it's en route.

So This hashtag#ADHDAwarenessMonth as you read posts please make space for many different perspectives and experiences. The field of knowledge and shared experience is rapidly growing and changing in some of the understanding that we have of ADHD; here's to growing understanding and evolution of perceptions 😊
